Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Mason pursued his BFA in Dance at The Ohio State University after a childhood of training as a singer, songwriter, and dancer. During his undergraduate career, Mason was handpicked to train, teach, and take the stage throughout Denmark and Brazil during two international performance tours. He also performed excerpts of Merce Cunningham’s choreography restaged by two former company members alongside the professional ballet company BalletMet.
Mason's work as a dance-filmmaker has screened at festivals internationally including the Perth Screendance Festival in Scotland and the Jacksonville Dance Film Festival in Texas. This led him to curate and produce the 2019 Dance@30FPS Film Festival at the Wexner Center for the Arts. As a documentarian, Mason has worked across the lens from a variety of artists and companies including Lil Buck, Sonya Tayeh, American Ballet Theatre, and Batsheva Dance Company at Jacob's Pillow and Vail Dance Festival. Currently, Mason works as a social media manager for BurnBarre, personal trainer at HACKD Fitness, lead video technician for Hall of Fame Dance Challenge, and videographer for Nel Shelby Productions.
